The Strategic Plan for Biological Diversity 2011-2020 and then the French National Strategy for Biodiversity 2030 have defined quantified targets for restoring degraded ecosystems. What surface area has been the subject of an ecological restoration intervention in France? Which ecosystems have been restored? What techniques have been used? Some years after the launch of the Decade of Ecological Restoration by the UN, it is impossible to answer these questions.

The aim of BDRest is to make as exhaustive an inventory as possible of ecological restoration interventions. Ultimately, it should make it possible to identify and summarise what has been restored on a national scale (in terms of surface/lineage, in which territories, on which ecosystems, using which techniques, by which stakeholders, etc.).
